Choosing the right bridal accessories to complete your look!

Choosing the perfect bridal accessories for your wedding is nearly as important as choosing the right dress, there are several factors you need to keep in mind such as how much is too much, and whether you need more to compliment your dress. Many women tend to over do it with accessories, so here are some tips to help you get the perfect look for your wedding day.

Choosing the right jewellery to compliment your dress:

You want your jewellery to compliment your dress and complete your look. If you a wearing a wedding dress that has a heavily beaded bodice with lots of crystals & pearls, you are best to either wear striking earrings, or perhaps a very simple necklace, most of the time you dont need to wear both. However if you have a simple bodice on your wedding dress, sometimes you need to add a little sparkle, and a striking necklace or earrings can be just the perfect accessory.

The colour of your wedding dress can also help determine your jewellery, as certain metal colours look better than others:

  • If you are wearing a pure white wedding dress, often silver jewellery accented with crystals or pearls will work best.
  • If you are wearing an ivory wedding dress, both silver or gold jewellery work well.
  • If you are wearing a cream wedding dress, most of the time gold jewellery will compliment the dress best.

To wear a veil or not to wear a veil?

A veil is one of the more traditional wedding accessories, and today is often worn for a statement piece rather than a symbolic gesture, it is purely a personal choice. If you are going for a princess look, then a veil will match perfectly, however if you are more of a modern bride, there are many alternatives out there to accessorise your hair style, from cage veils, fascinators, combs, tiaras or headbands.

When choosing your wedding veil, consider your hairstyle, do you plan to keep it in for the ceremony only, and also keep in mind the style of your wedding dress, if you have a beautifully adorned wedding dress, it is best to keep your veil simple.

Wearing a tiara or headpiece:

Whether you are after a traditional princess style tiara, a modern day headband, a simple comb or a fascinator, there are so many options today for bride’s who choose not to wear a veil. When choosing your hair accessories, it is just as important to consider your wedding jewellery, to make sure they compliment each other and don’t make you look too over done. There are many types of headpieces available:

  • Comb: is typically worn underneath your hairstyle or at the side of the head
  • Tiara: perfect for brides who wish to look like a princess, tiaras are available in many styles from simple to extravagent.
  • Bunwraps: as the name suggests – a bunwrap is a piece that wraps around your bun or updo.
  • Headband: headbands are great for modern brides, with such a wide variety of colours & styles to choose from.
